Master's Thesis General Procedure
"As an (IMME, ORBA, FINEC, ... ) student, must I write my Master's thesis at a specific chair (department)? How do I procced?"
Rules and Procedures: There is no central registration procedure!
- Application intake generally open at all chairs of FEM, for all Master's students.
- Deadlines? Check the chairs' homepages regularly, especially at the end of the semester before you plan to write the Master's thesis.
- Observe the rule: the Master's thesis is a self-organized study matter, and must be in English as a strict rule,
- Choose only a chair which is ready for a master's thesis in English language.
- Beforehand: Get information about the respective requirements, topics from the website of the chair, details, deadlines, ...
Note:
There are limited places by strict regulations, and some chairs are booked out very quickly. In that case, you must look for another chair, which still has open places. Students do not have the right to write the Master's thesis at a specific chair. Please be prepared to be flexible! We wish you all the best for your final step before graduation.
In LSF, you can find an overview of which chairs supervise master's theses for your degree program. Under "Master Thesis with colloquium (30000)", you will find all chairs that supervise master theses in M-BWL. Under the lecture "Master Thesis with Research Seminar (29994)", you will find all chairs that supervise master theses in M-IMME, M-FINEC, M-ORBA and M-EPA. If it is important to you to write your Master's thesis this semester, you need to take a broader view, i.e. include chairs in your selection that may not be among your preferred chairs.
