Seminars with a focus on students' chosen specializations serve the scientific processing of theoretical and practice-oriented questions between teachers and students. This can take place in various forms of work (presentations, papers, thesis development, discussions) and in groups. They require the involvement of the students in the form of presentations and oral lectures or/and written assignments.

In scientific projects, participants work in a practical manner on complex tasks taking theoretical principles into account. The results are presented in a form that is also customary in professional practice. The project may be supervised by an interdisciplinary team of lecturers, members of which may act as both coach and mentor. Access to projects may depend on the students having fulfilled certain requirements, as well as on the module regulations. It is also possible for students, in agreement with a course lecturer, to work on a project independently during a semester.

Although a semester abroad is not mandatory, the Faculty of Economics and Management highly recommends that ORBA students take advantage of a semester abroad at one of our many cooperation universities worldwide. Students interested in going abroad must begin the application procedure one year (two semesters) in advance (e.g. third semester abroad; consultation and application in first semester).

Besides the possibility of a study-abroad semester at one of our cooperation schools, students may also do an internship abroad for one semester.

With this final seminar, ORBA students shall develop the ability to find and define a research project, gain insight in the planning and realization of their own research project, acquire the ability to write and present a research paper, acquire the ability to academically discuss other students’ research

 

In this seminar, the students define and realize a research project, present their (preliminary) research results, and write their Master’s Thesis. The thesis project may have a scientific or applied research focus. Cooperation with firms or other organizations is possible. The module is organized as a research colloquium, where students have to present the first results of their projects and discuss open questions
